Mary Chung Restaurant will be officially closing on Saturday, Dec. 31, according to several social media posts. Patrons have posted pictures of a sign on the door of the restaurant announcing the owner's retirement after 40 years.
"The stars are aligning to tell us the time has come for retiring," the sign reads. "Thank you MIT. Thank you Cambridge. Thank you everyone for 40 wonderful years."
The spot is known for serving mostly Chinese/American dishes and Sichuan food, according to Boston Restaurant talk. Popular dishes include the Dun Dun Noodles, Peking Ravioli and Suan La Chow Show based on Yelp reviews.
"One of the most formative moments of my MIT career was having my first sichuan food at Mary's during the first week of school," Drew Starr said on Twitter. "Mary has earned the hell out of this retirement."
Mary Chung is located right in Cambridge's Central Square, at 464 Massachusetts Avenue.
